Kabala, Koinadugu District, Sierra Leone — Project 1808 planned and facilitated the first ever Science and Leadership festival at the Kabala Community Center from Jan. 4-6 2016.
The festival was attended by over 400 students who participated in the three-day festival in which they participated in activities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). There was also a day dedicated to leadership in which students reflected on the characteristics of a good leader while studying well-known African and African American leaders from the past.
The festival’s activities were planned in conjunction with Project 1808’s student chapter at the University of Wisconsin and implemented by our Student Leader team from local secondary schools.
